Wednesday 27th July 2005 Revel again

We wanted a quiet day, so I took us in to Revel. Vicky had advised that a German-French power adaptor was probably available in a large & otherwise comprehensively stocked store near the car park to the North. They tried but failed. Trying a photo shop near the market elicited where one could be obtained & we later did so, after I had taken photos of the market-free market place & the cathedral, the latter being difficult because of surrounding buildings. It had another painted ceiling & some modern but very kitschy glass, unlike Sorèze & Durfort, to which we now repaired, as one of my photos before had failed, which this damned digital camera sometimes does.

It had been windy earlier in the day but a howling gale sweeps through Durfort, as presumably, it comes off the mountain. We were back at Vick's for lunch, a vast salad made by Avis & left-overs. We had a siesta. At 4, we drove off to Fay's house in Le Vaux, Vicky in the front to navigate. Very windy again. Fay's house is amazing, the biggest single person pad we have ever come across with about 20-odd rooms & always another one off the one you are in. She gave us tea &, while she talks about selling, it, goodness knows how she would move all her antique junk. We had a break in the middle while I helped the gay carpenter across the road unload furniture from Fay's Merc. We did not leave until after 7. Then, we lashed up dinner from all the left-overs.

Thursday 28th July 2005

We finished packing & pottered until 11, when we set off up to Lac St. Ferreol & Saissac to Carcassonne, where we had trouble finding the airport, as it is not clearly marked on the road signs. There were two cyclists at check-in, who had been over the pass from Sort to France & found it hard work. It was over this pass that Ken's ancestors Lope of Bigorre & Dadildis of Pallars would have met. We ate an ugly but tasty fish for lunch. The 'plane was late but seemed to catch up.
