Warnemunde, Port of Rostock

Warnemunde is the fishing & cruise ship port of Rostock. Breakfast at about 8. We went up the canal all the way to the lighthouse & back to the beach, stopped at the famous Teepot restaurant (photo right) for coffee, then went along the Front to the tower-block Hotel Neptune, spotting this playful statue (photo far right)on the way. Then it started to rain, gradually with some considerable energy & got back to the ship at about 1135.

We had lunch at 1230 & I went off to escort a trip, first to Bad Doberan Münster, a hugely impressive brick building, where it rained on & off.

Then, to the station for a steam train, which is narrow gauge & still an important part of the local transport system. The weather improved in the sense that the rain stopped & some clouds dispersed because the wind had got up fairly vigorously. The train took us to Külungsborn, where we had cake & coffee & then, went for a walk.

I was late back to the coach & said I had 'got lost', a lie. The Deputy Shore Manager tried to reprimand me but I said I had had an unpleasant accident, as I had, which meant I had to wash the fawn trousers I had had washed by the ship at extra expense yesterday. You don't discuss your medical condition with coach pax.

On the day at sea to Oslo, I presented my "Grieg, Singer of the Song of Norway" show, one I much enjoy giving, as everyone loves the music & he was a loveable man. I had added more photos from our Norway cruise the previous month.
