This tour took place in two parts: St. Niklaus to Saas Fee in 1973 and Saas Fee to St. Niklaus in 1975,
via Saas Almagell, Borca (Macugnanga), Alsesia, Gressoney, St. Jacques, Breuil & Zermatt.
The narrative below is my usual mixture of recollection & guide-book-style stuff.
Maps: Stages 1 & 2, LK 274 Visp. Stages 2-4, LK 284 Mischabel. Stages 4-8 LK 294 Gressoney. This is where it drives you nuts, as Testa Grigia is on the corner of four maps, LKs 294, 293 Valpelline, 283 Arolla & 284 Mischabel & if it's misty, you need them all.
