All the information above this comment & the details of Jean & Jeanne below was supplied by Benoit Meyer, Chef de Service at the Hôtel de Ville, Rixheim (near Mulhouse in Alsace), whom we approached on a hint from Claudine Saltzmann, whom we met in Abreschviller after finding her name in the French on-line telephone directory, to whom, our thanks. We were searching for Saltzmanns in Abreschviller after learning of the one-time presence of Pierre Saltzmann in the nearby village of Lafrimbolle. Thank you too, to Jean Saltzmann, one of the surviving Saltzmanns of Rixheim, who entertained us in his own home (a very un-French thing to do) after we enquired for Saltzmanns of the landlord of the Café Nico, Rixheim's pub, who rang Jean, who invited us up.
