Liverpool Road closure - looking after the Residents |
If we just close Liverpool Road, local residents will suffer from extra traffic. This cannot be allowed. After giving much thought to the matter & walking the streets several times (after all, we live here), we would like to suggest a programme of road closures, which would send East-West traffic along Islington Park Street & prevent rat-runners using Theberton Street & Barnsbury Street. |
Block the South end of College Cross. |
Block this West end of Barnsbury Street, as there is room to turn here but not at the Upper Street end. |
Upper Street end of Barnsbury Street, being used as a rat-run. |
Block this entrace to Gibson Square from Liverpool Road. |
At present, there is a wimpy & ineffective raised entrace to Barnsbury Street from Liverpool Road. This is totally inadequate to cut the traffic. |
Theberton Street temporarily blocked while silly humps are put it. Block it here, we say. |
This suggestion is entirely driven (?) by the need for Barnsbury Street residents to turn their own cars round, which cane be done reasonably easily at the West end but certainly not at the narrow East (Upper Street) end. As for the West side of Liverpool Road, that is Fortress Barnsbury & pretty well impermeable to outside traffic anyway. This is just a suggestion. E-mail us if you have better ideas but be careful to take all factors into account. |
