Olbia

Wednesday 11th April 2018

Olbia from the ship

Up earlier and a coach tour on another dull day, to a prehistoric village at Arzachena, with a tower curiously resembling a broch but much earlier Ken thinks, 1,800 - 1,600BC.

Below left is a picture from the official brochure of the site.

Nearby is the burial site. This has a narrow entrace, not used for depositing bodies. That was done by lifting the appropriate slab on top & dropping the body in. The name, "Tomb of the Giants", is more modern.

The front end of the tomb.

Seen from the back, showing the slabs.

Then, to a boring seaside place called Canniglione, modern but it did have an interesting church, with a modernist crucifix and modernist stained glass.
