Into Bergen at breakfast time & sunny again, although eventually, it did become overcast. After the tour to Troldhaugen, many of us were dropped off the coach by the Fish Market at about 13:15. We walked to the lake & round back by the Ole Bull Fountain & Seaman’s Memorial to the quay & the Braemar, which was in the best berth available here, a new one near where we berthed in the Marco Polo over 4 years ago. The ship left at 15:30 for the 600 odd mile slog back to Dover.

Grieg's house, Troldhaugen

The tour to Troldhaugen, Grieg’s house, did not take off until 10:30, which was a bit late & resulted in a rushed morning. There were 51 of us, which exacerbated the problems of the local guide, who was English, as she had to split the party into two. So, we went round the house, which was in a big plastic bag, so much for my ‘better’ photos, as it was having its roof maintained but this then only left 10 minutes to get round the museum, where I bought a book about the house, as photos inside were forbidden. There was a piano recital in the concert hall, which was very good by a piano professor from Oslo, although he ended with the last movement of the early Piano Sonata, which is all noise & bluster, signifying nothing.
