Anglo-German Family History Society Xmas Trip to Vallendar on the Rhine

These notes are from Ken Baldry's diary entries, made on tours organised by the society. This trip was only four days, two of which were spent on the coach travelling.

Vallendar

Across 1/2 the Rhine

Hotel Alexander von Humboldt

We had a big room with a shower in the Hotel Alexander von Humboldt. The dinner, soup, veal in cream sauce & fruit salad, was quite good for the money.

Saturday 6th December 2003 - evening boat trip on the Rhine (Daytime on this link)

There were gammon steaks for dinner at 6. Then, the bus to Boppard at 7 & a boat up the Rhine for a couple of hours with dancing on it. The Rhine was about 4 metres shallower than when we stayed at Boppard, 4 years ago. Global warming?

World's top beauty

Dinah, Iain & Joyce

Joyce (1/2 German, 1/2 Chinese) & daughter Linda

Stephanie about to be Buhler

(The Buhlers are not a large Anglo-German tribe in East London - they are a small nation!)

Last day - to Rudesheim
